Bedrock Robotics

Bedrock Robotics builds autonomous systems that retrofit existing excavators and bulldozers for around-the-clock operation on construction sites.

Bedrock Robotics develops autonomous systems for the construction industry. The company's approach is to retrofit existing heavy equipment rather than replace it: excavators and bulldozers already in a customer's fleet are converted into autonomous machines able to operate safely and around the clock. The work addresses conditions the sector has long struggled with, including hazardous worksites, labour shortages and tight project deadlines.

The company's product, Bedrock Operator, is a retrofit kit that transforms existing heavy construction equipment into fully autonomous machines. It is designed to be installed on a customer's own excavators and bulldozers in a single day, and is aimed at construction, heavy equipment and infrastructure development.

Technically, the company works across autonomous systems, robotics, self-driving vehicle technology, heavy equipment automation, and the integration of retrofit hardware and software. Members of the engineering team were involved in deploying the first fully autonomous vehicles on public roads, and that experience underpins the vehicle autonomy stack applied to construction plant.

Bedrock Robotics states its objective as making construction safer, faster and more sustainable, and enabling building at the pace society requires.
