Who we are
CEEhire is a job board connecting IT professionals in Central and Eastern Europe with remote opportunities at EU, US, and UK companies. The site is operated by Juhász Anikó EV (registered in Hungary, 4025 Debrecen, Fényes udvar 7.). Contact: hello@ceehire.com.
As a data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we are responsible for the personal data you provide when using this site.
1. What data we collect
Information you provide directly:
Account details: name, email address, password
Candidate profile: resume, work experience, education, skills, languages, location, bio
Job search preferences and job alert subscriptions
Employer details: company name, job descriptions, contact information
Messages and support requests sent to us
Information collected automatically:
Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, referring URLs
Device information
Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5)
2. Why we process your data (legal basis)
Under GDPR Article 6, we process your data on the following legal grounds:
Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): To provide the job board service — matching candidates with job listings, enabling applications, running employer accounts
Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): To operate and improve the site, prevent fraud, ensure security, and send service-related updates
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): For marketing emails and job alert subscriptions — you can withdraw consent at any time
Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Where required by applicable law

4. How we share your data
With employers, when you apply: When you submit a job application through CEEhire, your application materials (name, contact details, CV, profile) are shared with the posting employer. You authorize this sharing by submitting an application.
With service providers: We share data with third-party providers who help us operate the site. Each is bound by a data processing agreement:
Cavuno (cavuno.com) — job board platform and infrastructure, processes all user data on our behalf
MailerLite — email delivery for job alerts and transactional emails. Registered in Lithuania (EU)
Google Analytics — website analytics. Google LLC, USA — covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, July 2023)
Stripe — payment processing for employer job postings. Stripe, Inc., USA — covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework
Recruiter and pipeline services: If we contact you about including your profile in a curated shortlist for a specific employer client, we will ask for your explicit consent before sharing your details. This is separate from applying to a job posting and only happens with your prior agreement.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
5. Cookies
We use cookies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and analyze traffic.
Essential cookies: required for the site to function (login sessions, security)
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics, to understand how the site is used (you can opt out via your browser or Google's opt-out tool)
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies will not affect your ability to use the site.
6. Data transfers outside the EU
Some of our service providers are based in the United States. We rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision adopted July 10, 2023) for transfers to Google LLC and Stripe, Inc. Both companies are certified under the Framework.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, unless we are required to keep it longer by law (for example, financial records related to payments are kept for 5 years under Hungarian accounting rules).
Job alert subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.
8. Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correction: ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data
Deletion: request that we delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format
Object: object to processing based on legitimate interest
Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

9. Right to complain
If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hungarian supervisory authority:

10. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
11. Children
This site is not directed at anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
