Cribl
Cribl builds a vendor-agnostic data processing suite - Stream, Edge, Search and Lake - for IT and Security teams handling telemetry and observability data. Remote-first, founded 2018, 600+ staff.
Cribl is a vendor-agnostic data processing company founded in 2018 and headquartered in San Francisco. It builds tools for IT and Security teams that need to collect, route, store and analyse machine data without being locked in to a single observability or security vendor. The company employs more than 600 people and operates on a remote-first basis, with a distributed workforce rather than a single-site office model.
Its product suite covers the full telemetry lifecycle. Cribl Stream is a telemetry pipeline, described by the company as the industry's leading one, through which data is routed and reshaped before it reaches its destination. Cribl Edge is a vendor-neutral agent for collecting data at the edge. Cribl Search provides search-in-place analytics, allowing queries against data where it already sits, and Cribl Lake is a turnkey data lake for storage and later analysis. The technical work spans telemetry pipelines, observability, IT and security data management, data lakes and edge data collection.
Cribl reports having surpassed $200m in annual recurring revenue, a milestone it describes as one of the fastest reached by an infrastructure company. The firm states five core values: Customers First, Always; Irreverent but Serious; Insatiably Curious; Open and Authentic; and Excel Together. Internal culture is described as irreverent but serious; employees are known as “goats”, after the mascot Ian the Goat.
Eight Employee Resource Groups operate within the company, with participation above 45% of staff. A “Goats Give Back” programme covers community service, and through a partnership with World Vision Cribl donates a goat to a family in need for every new customer.
