FingerprintJS, Inc. builds a device intelligence platform that identifies visitors across web and mobile applications, helping developers detect and prevent online fraud. Its identification holds even when cookies are cleared, users browse in incognito mode, or VPNs are used. The company was founded in 2012 and reports 99.5% identification accuracy, with more than 6,000 companies using its services worldwide.
The firm began as an open-source browser fingerprinting library, FingerprintJS, released on GitHub in 2012 and maintained by co-founder and CTO Valentin Vasilyev. A commercial SaaS product, FingerprintJS Pro, followed in 2019, providing device and visitor identification for fraud prevention. The offering has since expanded to include bot detection. Technical work spans browser fingerprinting, device identification, bot and fraud detection, mobile and web identification, and SaaS API development.
The platform processes more than 80 million real-time API events a day and, by the company's account, helped prevent over $1 billion in fraud losses in the past twelve months. FingerprintJS, Inc. has raised $77 million across four funding rounds and serves customers worldwide across fintech, SaaS and cybersecurity. The engineering culture is developer-focused and shaped by its open-source origins, with the founding technical team having built and maintained the underlying library before commercialising it.
