Scalera

Scalera, an ETH Zurich spin-off, builds an AI procurement platform that parses tender documents and matches product specifications to catalogs for European construction firms, manufacturers and suppliers.

Scalera is an ETH Zurich spin-off building an AI-powered procurement platform for the construction industry. The company's stated aim is to serve as the digital infrastructure layer for Europe's construction sector, making tendering ten times faster. Its engineering work centres on artificial intelligence and machine learning, natural language processing and document parsing, automated extraction of product positions from heterogeneous document standards, and product catalog and specification matching.

The Scalera AI Procurement Platform parses large tender documents, extracts product positions regardless of document standard and matches them to company product catalogs. It is used to automate tender analysis, specification matching and quote creation for construction companies, manufacturers and suppliers. The company reports reductions of up to 80% in tender and quote processing time.

Scalera reports over CHF 8 billion in tender volume processed and more than 110 customers, operating in Switzerland, Austria and Germany as part of its wider European footprint. Its users span construction, construction materials manufacturing, building products and distribution and wholesale. Named customers include Frauenthal, ACO Gruppe, Dormakaba, Daikin, Saint-Gobain, Holcim and Würth-Gruppe. The addressable market is Europe's €1.8 trillion construction industry.

The company has raised $6.5 million in a seed round backed by 30 unicorn founders and global strategics. Its technical and academic roots are reflected in its ETH Zurich origins and in a stated mission of getting Europe building again through AI-powered procurement automation.
